The top 50, voted for via an industry poll, will be revealed on 28 January at the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, when Gastropub Chef of the Year, Highest Climber and Highest New Entry will be announced along with winners of Newcomer of the Year, Front of House Manager and Business Innovation.
The three Newcomer of the Year contenders are the Assheton Arms, Downham and the Eagle & Child,
Ramsbottom, both in Lancashire; and the Swan in Wedmore, Somerset.
The Fox at Farthinghoe, Northamptonshire; Somers Town Coffee House in London; and the Crabtree Inn, Lower Beeding, West Sussex, are up for Business Innovation, with an outside catering business, secret supper club and a deli respectively.
Leon Mace of the Mill Race, Walford, Gloucestershire; Christopher Lee of the Cross Foxes, Dolgellau, Gwynedd; and Mike Champion of the Red Lion, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, are in the running for Front of House Manager.
Nearly 1,500 votes have been collected from industry figures including food writers, journalists, pubco chiefs, chefs and licensees.
