SIBA launches award for outstanding contribution to the brewing industry

The SIBA Silver Tankard will be awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to SIBA or to the UK brewing industry over a number of years.

Nominations are open until 31 January and the winner will be announced in March at BeerX, SIBA’s celebration of British beer.

Nigel Sadler, SIBA vice chairman, said: “We are delighted to be launching this new award and look forward to presenting it to a deserving winner at BeerX.

“The revival of British brewing that we have witnessed over the past decade came about because a handful of individuals in the industry had the vision, talent and determination to do things differently.  Many, but not all, of those people were, and still are, members of SIBA, so it seems entirely fitting that our organisation should honour the role they played in creating this vibrant and innovative industry.”

Candidates do not need to be members of SIBA to apply and can be nominated by non-members, but nominations must be endorsed by a full SIBA member.
