Statutory code: BISC to hold evidence session over consultation submission
The Business, Innovation & Skills Committee (BISC) is set to hold an ‘evidence session’ to consider its own submission to the consultation on the implementation of a statutory code and adjudicator.

The chairman of BISC, Adrian Bailey, said the British Beer & Pub Association and the industry, along with licensee groups, will be invited to give their views during the session.

Bailey said: “We want to get the views of both sides so that we can make a considered submission in the context of all the work we have done so far.
“Obviously we want to contribute to the evidence and see what comes out.”

Bailey is conducting a consultation with licensees in his own constituency of West Bromwich West in the West Midlands to see what their response to the Government plans are.

“I get the impression the department realises it can’t brush this one away and it has to sort it,” he said.

“Whether it will get something that is not satisfactory, that doesn’t address it but is satisfied it will do, is something I am very concerned about.”
