Statutory Code: Industry fully engaged under Government direction, claims FLVA
The Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations (FLVA) claims the industry is now fully engaged in “fashioning a settlement to the industry’s problems” as all the parties are working under Government direction.

Responding to the Publican’s Morning Advertiser story which claimed that infighting between trade associations scuppered the self-regulation deal, which included the strengthening of the Industry Framework Code, setting up of arbitration service PICA-Service and the Pubs Advisory Service,  FLVA president Nigel Williams said: “In relation to this weeks article commenting on the collapse of self regulation all parties are now under Government direction and are fully engaged in fashioning a settlement to the industry’s problems.

At the recent round table Government chaired meeting the FLVA were encouraged by the initial discussions and looks forward to working with all parties after two frustrating years of self governance discussions.”

He believes that the both the Pubs Independent Rent Review Service and PICA-Service are capable of operating under a Government Adjudicator and should be retained with modifications.

He added: “The FLVA having declined to sign up to version 6 of the Code of Practice sees the new Statutory Code as the document where the bulk of work now needs to be done and where the work of all parties needs to be concentrated and united.

“The FLVA looks forward to future meetings and being involved and engaged with all stake holders in fashioning an equitable, practical and positive settlement for tenant publicans”.
