The Association for Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) is calling for licensees to participate in its seventh annual Benchmarking Survey.

Strategic affairs director Kate Nicholls said that it will help to form the basis for the ALMR’s lobbying campaigns. It is also used as a reference tool by lessees and managed operators.

Anyone that takes part in the survey will receive the detailed report of findings for free. It is usually sold for £100.

Nicholls said: “The more people we have taking part in this the more the survey becomes valuable for the work we do with the Government. It is really critical for developing strong messages going forward.

“The detail is also crucial for operators when benchmarking their own performance.”

Last year’s survey found that the average cost of running a pub stabilised, while like-for-like sales growth in the sector accelerated although gross margins declined.

Visit to respond. The deadline for responses is 14 March. The results will be available in July.
