Support grows for petition calling on the Government to recognise the importance of British beer

A petition calling on the Government to recognise the importance of British beer has received 358 signatures.

The petition​, put forward by beer sommelier Jayne Peyton, calls on the Government to showcase British beer at at official government functions by offering it to guests at drinks receptions, and serving it during state dinners and other receptions as a match for food.

It also calls for trade delegations to highlight British beer when they are overseas. It also asks for Visit Britain to make more of British beer and pubs when they market Britain overseas. Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Germany entice hundreds of thousands of visitors each year specifically because of the beer. Let’s do the same for Britain.

It also wants recognition on the significant value of beer to the domestic and export economy wants British beer and pubs taken seriously as a major element of “Britain plc”.
