Food allergies and intolerances expert Foods Matter will launch the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards next year.

The awards will celebrate innovation in the foodservice industry following on from the FreeFrom Food Awards which focus on the retail market.

"We anticipate that the new regulations on allergen declarations will be catalyst for a major focus on freefrom in food service - to date a virtually untapped market estimated at over £100m," said founder Michelle Berriedale-Johnson.

"The FreeFrom Eating Out Awards will follow in the footsteps of the FreeFrom Food Awards in raising the profile of eating out ‘freefrom’ and setting a target of excellence to which food establishments can aspire."

Berriedale-Johnson founded in the early 1990s to provide a resource for people who suffer from food allergies and intolerances. Foods Matter has expanded its portfolio in line with new legislation regarding allergies and intolerances coming into force from December 2014.
