Tom Kerridge scooped the top prize at the National Retaurant Awards for his Hand & Flowers pub
Tom Kerridge’s Hand & Flowers picked up the award for the UK’s best restaurant at the 2013 National Restaurant Awards.

The pub-restaurant in Marlow beat The Ledbury to the top spot in the awards, which recognise the 100 best places to eat out in the UK, as voted for by 150 industry experts.

Kerridge and his wife Beth received the award last night (7 October) at a ceremony at in London from guest of honour Joan Roca of Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca - the World’s Best Restaurant.

Kerridge, who is currently presenting the new BBC series Proper Pub Food​, also collected the Gastropub of the Year award for the second year running.

Another food-led pub picked up an award, with The Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent also in the top 10, and the pub’s head chef Stephen Harris winning the Chef’s Chef of the Year award for his revival of artisan cooking techniques at his out-of-the-way pub.
