More than 100 people attended pub company Orchid’s annual Halo Awards, which celebrates the achievements of its workforce.

Winners of the awards, held at the group’s Pacific Oriental on London’s Threadneedle Street, were voted for by staff members. From apprentices and accountants, chefs and cleaners to managers and marketing executives, every single staff member has the opportunity to be recognised.

'Highlight of the calendar'

Simon Dodd, Orchid’s commercial and people director said: “The Halo Awards are the annual highlight of the Orchid rewards calendar. Each year more and more people clamber to nominate their work colleagues. We make sure it’s a really special night and one to remember.”

The 2014 winners are:

  • Area Manager of the Year​JP McKeown
  • Steps to Excellence Graduate of the Year​ Matthew Stokes
  • Apprentice of the Year​ Ellie Peake (Bucket & Spade – Free House Dining)
  • Orchid Idol of the Year ​Sarah Jayne Plunkett (Outside Inn - FHD)
  • Social Media business of the Year​ Druids Head (Do Drop Inns)
  • Year of Sport business of the Year​ Duck (PKB)
  • Hero of Hospitality​ Coral Baxter (Young Pretender - GBC)
  • Orchid Support Idol of the Year​ Josie Adams (Human Resources)
  • Shine Award​ Buccaneer (DDI)
  • Outstanding performance of the Year​ Monkseaton Arms (DDI) and Fiveways (GBC)
  • Sales growth business of the year​ Church View Inn (FHD)
  • Magnificent seven award​ Grapes Inn (FHD)
  • Best In Bloom ​Hatfield Chase (FHD)
