PHOTOS: Scotch Egg Challenge 2014
Now in its fourth year, 17 contestants from across the UK - including features editor of the Publican's Morning Advertiser, Jessica Mason - took to the kitchens at the Young’s pub.
Winning chef Michael Harrison impressed the judges, which included TV personality Oliver Peyton and The Guardian’s Bob Granleese, with his hogs pudding Cornish Scotch egg.
In second place was The Draper’s Arms in Islington with a black pudding and pork scotch egg, followed by Yolk, which produced a haggis, pork shoulder and panko breadcrumbs product.
'Honorable mentions' were also given to five other competitors:
- The Dairy in Clapham - squid and chorizo scotch egg
- Whyte & Brown’s - chicken Caesar
- The Gannet - black pudding, pork and duck egg
- The Victoria - English Scotch egg with a Chinese twist
- The George - barbecue pulled pork
