Metcalfe Catering Equipment is offering a new manual slicer that can cut through food items it claimed other slicers are "afraid of".

According to the supplier, the Edlund Arc! XL stainless steel manual slicer can handle items that are too big or too hard to slice in other manual machines, such as beefsteak tomatoes and large onions.

As with the original Arc! model, the XL version can also slice a number of other hard and soft products, Metcalfe added.

The XL model differs by having a larger hopper size, which makes it suitable for larger items such as iceberg lettuces.

Unique design

Metcalfe said the machine’s unique pusher/hopper design means the item to be sliced can be positioned safely and perfectly.

Similarly, number of smaller soft products can be loaded at the same time for faster bulk slicing.

A spokesperson for Metcalfe said: "With the machine’s exclusive patent-pending design, you never have to place any product directly on the blades.

"The oversize hopper even makes short work of slicing cooked chicken breasts. This is the revolutionary new slicer that takes on the big jobs, and provides even bigger results."

The Edlund Arc! XL is priced at £1,380 plus VAT.
