Welsh brewer and pub operator Brains is on the hunt to find legends in pubs across the country.

As an extension of its ‘Legends’ advertising campaign which launched at the start of this month, the company has launched a competition to find and celebrate ‘Real Welsh Legends’ from every town, village and pub across Wales.

The chosen legends will then be invited to star in Brains’ next advertising campaign and win a series of money-can’t-buy-prizes including the chance to have their local pub named after them.

Bruce Newman, Brains' head of marketing, said: “As a country overflowing with unique characters and distinctive personalities, we know that every pub and neighbourhood in Wales must have at least one person who can be classified as a true legend.

“It may be the person who compères the pub quiz dressed in a sequinned jacket week in week out, the star of the women’s darts team who turns up to lead their team to victory every week whatever the weather, or the guy who sits on the same stool at the end of the bar every day and entertains customers with their endless tales of days gone by. Whatever their story, we want to hear from them all.”

Licensees and customers have until 17May 2015 to nominate their chosen individual. Up to 20 finalists will then be shortlisted and voting will run until mid-August when the winners will be crowned.
