The nation’s pubs have joined in the celebrations for new royal baby Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Berkshire’s The Old Boot Inn, known as Kate Middleton’s favourite pub, held a party for over 200 people at the weekend.

Licensee John Haley said: “We’re absolutely delighted so we held a huge party, with a BBQ, and a DJ playing sole music. To mark the occasion we had a Pink Lady cocktail with gin and grenadine and a Kir Royal, all in honour of the new princess.”

Hayley was invited to Kate and William’s 2010 wedding, which he says caused great excitement among locals.

Meanwhile, Hampshire’s the Queen Charlotte Inn has been raising a glass in honour of the new baby that shares its name.

Leaseholder Jez Taylor said: “It’s definitely nice to have a connection and hopefully we’ll organise an event to celebrate within the next couple of days.

“I’d like to name an ale Princess Charlotte and sell it in the pub. My wife actually predicted all the right names-but unfortunately not in the right order.”

Bookies had to pay out over £1 million after thousands correctly guessed the baby’s name, making it one of the costliest results in royal betting history.
