Heineken has signed French footballer Eric Cantona for a new digitally led campaign for its Kronenbourg 1664 lager brand.

The four-part video series, entitled #LeBigSwim, begins with Cantona declaring that if 10,000 Britons agree with him that Kronenbourg 1664 is the greatest tasting beer, he will swim the English Channel from France to Britain.

The campaign, which is targeted at a male audience is set to increase awareness and boost sales throughout the summer and follows Kronenbourg’s recent campaign ‘A Taste Supreme’ also featuring Cantona.

Eric Cantona said: “I have never turned down an opportunity to be bold and make a statement in the name of something I believe in. When the people of Britain agree with me that Kronenbourg is the most suprême tasting beer, I Cantona, will swim the Channel and show the world once again that I stand up for what I believe in.”
