Eight top tips on staff engagement
Novus Leisure has reduced staff turnover by 23% for hourly paid employees, and 10% for salaried staff in the past year.

The company told the PMA its top tips for staff retention and engagement:

■ Implement a training programme that focuses on individual aspirations and personal development
■ Ensure staff are expertly trained and love their craft
■ Encourage the view that the job has potential as a long-term career
■ Set out training at every level of the company to enable progression
■ Mix training for personal and operational development
■ Make training relevant, such as a 'Digital Rockstars' course to teach managers to utilise their website
■ Use external experts for
food safety and higher training
■ Use online e-learning, including personality profiling to generate development plans and give feedback for senior management
