A Brussels sprout and kale hybrid vegetable – the flower sprout – is set to take UK kitchens by storm, according to some industry commentators.
The flower sprout is a non-genetically modified vegetable that’s been developed through traditional hybridization techniques over 15 years, according to David Rogers, the UK sales director of the firm behind the vegetable, Tozer Seeds.
“When we started working on it we saw an enormous potential, so we kept working until finally, in 2010, we introduced the product at Marks & Spencer in the UK,” he said.
The vegetable can be steamed, microwaved, stir fried, boiled or blanched.
