Members of Parliament are preparing to nominate the UK’s best pub chefs for the recently launched British Beer & Pub Association and All Party Parliamentary Beer Group’s Parliamentary Pub Chef and Young Pub Chef of the Year awards.

The awards, which were launched for the first time in September in partnership with Nestlé Professional, will recognise pub chefs that are renowned for creating and serving great food in their constituency.

Standout chefs

MPs are being urged by the APPBG and the BBPA to nominate standout chefs in their constituencies for the awards.

Chefs who would like to be considered for entry should email their local MP with a completed entry form and a few lines about why they want to enter.

Billions of meals were served in pubs each year as more of them had recognised that good quality food was a great way to attract more customers, according to the BBPA.

“Pubs are increasingly serving high-quality food and, for ambitious chefs, it’s a great chance to take control of your own kitchen,” said BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds.

‘Superb pub chefs’

“It is time that we recognised the efforts of superb pub chefs up and down the country and I am delighted that MPs can get involved by nominating pubs in their constituency.”

Andrew Griffiths, MP and chair of the APPBG said: “Great British pubs now produce brilliant food as well as serving brilliant beer. To celebrate that, this is an opportunity for MPs to showcase the best in their locals, and help raise the standard of pub food.”
