Cheshire Cat Pubs & Bars were celebrating after beating Be at One, the Alchemist, and the New World Trading Company, to the title at the awards 25th anniversary celebration at Battersea Evolution in London.
The company, which also took a highly commended title in the Best Food Offer (2-50 sites) category, drew strong praise from judges for its dedication to supporting cask ale from local breweries.
However, each of the company’s five sites has its own focus, with the Red Lion specialising in rum with up to 80 varieties on offer, while the Bulls Head offers a similar level of choice when it comes to whiskies.
Wine is also a big part of the mix and Cheshire Cat Pubs & Bars has an excellent range and each site will on average offer around 15 wines by the glass.
Ed Bedington, editor of the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, which organises the awards, said: “This is a company that puts a lot of time and thought into getting its drink offer right, from it’s superb focus on local, great beers, through to its impressive offer on wine and spirits.
“The launch of a festival to celebrate and highlight gin at one of its sites was a great touch, and a great way to engage customers with your products.”
