A drunk pub chef brandished a knife at a car and was tasered by firearms police, a court was told.

Chef Kyle Duff drank whiskey and beer before quitting his job and “lunging” at a vehicle in the street, Teesside newspaper Gazette Live reported this morning (2 August).

Tasered

The prosecution reportedly claimed Duff was “so intoxicated he remembers little besides being in the back of a police van” after being tasered by armed police and taken to hospital.

Duff was slapped with a suspended 12-month jail sentence after Teesside Crown Court was told of his “serious” problem with alcohol.

Problem

Duff’s solicitor is reported to have told the court Duff “accepted he had a problem” and that he had demonstrated remorse for any fear he had caused members of the public.

The solicitor reportedly stressed Duff needed treatment rather than jail.
