Next Door, Odiham, Hampshire
Red Mist Leisure has announced that it has added an eighth pub to its portfolio. The Farnham-based pub company, which owns award-winning pubs across Surrey and Hampshire, has now added the site currently known as Next Door to its estate.
According to historical archives, up until 1700, the pub was an ale house called the Red Lion. It was then converted to a grocery store and traded as such until 1992, when it reverted to being an inn. Red Mist now plans to reinstate its original name, the Red Lion, for the first time in 300 years and reopen the site in April.
Red Mist managing director Mark Robson said: "The Red Lion has an enviable location, situated on the high street of a picturesque and historic village. We will be keeping much of the character of the building and by adding Red Mist Leisure’s unique style, we are confident that we can create another ‘destination’ pub, bar and restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere for dining and drinking."
Kate Dowd of Fleurets brokered the sale and added: "James and Rachel have worked hard over the years to create Next Door, but are very happy to hand over the baton to Red Mist Leisure, a company they both respect for their style of operation and quality of service."
