Pubs code adjudicator Paul Newby has released a series of documents to help tenants understand the code.

As well as pieces already available on code-governed issues, such as rent disputes and pub franchise agreements, Newby has now made factsheets on arbitrations, independent assessors and the market-rent-only (MRO) option available to tenants.

On top of this, Newby’s office has released a detailed flowchart outlining the MRO process after an MRO trigger event.

The adjudicator explained that he had released this additional information to help tenants interpret a “detailed and technical” piece of legislation.

“From the beginning I have made it a priority to provide information to tenants and others in a plain English format.

“I am very pleased that we have been able to go a step further and develop some new documents and a series of flowcharts that are designed to help guide tenants and their representatives through different Code processes,” Newby said.
