The Licensed Trade Charity (LTC), which supports current and retired pub trade employees, has put out a call for more volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week.

Volunteers are being sought by the LTC for two of its programmes in particular: to get in touch with pub staff at risk of loneliness; and to assess the needs of people the charity can help.

How to volunteer for the LTC

Those interested in volunteering for the charity can express their interest either by email or by calling 01344 898550.

Wadworth field sales manager Simon Tomkins said he takes half an hour every week to help the charity’s loneliness programme. He said it involves calling retired staff from the pub trade whom the charity has identified as socially isolated and potentially lonely.

“Doing something for others is extremely rewarding and I thought I could give that half an hour a week to make a real difference in someone’s life,” Tomkins said.

National Volunteer Week, which runs this year from 1-7 June, is an annual event to celebrate the contribution volunteers make to charities in all sectors.
