For every one of the special pies ordered from Pieminister, the company will donate another to UKHarvest, a not-for profit food-rescue operation that collects excess food and delivers it to charities.
The initiative, labelled ‘A Pie for a Pie’ will see 10,000 pies donated over the course of the summer.
The three pies are: Mexicow (chilli con carne with British beef, beer and cheddar), Thai Chook (Thai green curry with chicken) and Feta Attraction (Feta, spinach, chickpea and squash).
The pies are available for pubs to order until autumn and are made with responsibly sourced British ingredients.
Pieminister co-founder and managing director Jon Simon said: “A Pie for a Pie might just be the tastiest, easiest way to help others this summer. We have pledged to donate 10,000 pies to UKHarvest so that they can feed even more people with good quality food.
Eliminating hunger and food waste
He added: “To help us reach this target, all you need to do is add the pies to your menu for your customers to enjoy this summer. It’s that simple! Supporting 'A Pie for a Pie' means helping UKHarvest on their mission to eliminate hunger and food waste in the UK, while delighting your customers with something new.”
UKHarvest CEO Yvonne Thomson added that the organisation was “thrilled” to be collaborating with Pieminister.
In November last year, Enterprise Inns’ hailed a partnership it had entered with Pieminister as a success.
