Albion and East to open Brixton-based bar and restaurant

Canova Hall, a 4,579sq ft bar and restaurant, will open on Ferndale Road in Brixton on September 18.
Relaxed work space
The move follows the group’s successful opening of Martello Hall, a Hackney-based cocktail bar and dining hall aimed at the Millenial working generation, in December 2016.
Originally built in 1906 as a canteen and dormitories to house workers for the UK’s first department store, the split-level Brixton premises will offer a ‘relaxed work space environment’ by day, with fast wi-fi, coffee and hot-desking spaces as well as a late-night venue.
An Italian-themed menu based around an all-wood oven imported from Modena in Italy will be served, with pizza and pasta freshly made on site each day, the business said.
Close-knit and vibrant community
Customers will also be given the chance to ‘book a bartender’, who will make cocktails at their table. Bespoke Canova and Martello gins will also be sold.
“This is such an exciting project with so many amazing people involved,” Albion and East founder Sarah Weir, formerly of Mitchells & Butlers and Pizza Express, said.
“Brixton is a close-knit and vibrant community, like Hackney, and we are privileged to become part of it.”
