A Great British Pub Award winner has taken to social media to out non-paying diners who left some personal items behind.

Purecraft Bar & Kitchen in Birmingham posted on its Facebook page that a trio who left the pub without paying also left an iPhone on the table.

The venue, which won Best Beer Pub in 2015 posted: “To the three guys who did a runner tonight because you felt we owed you a free evening due to another customer spilling a drink on your coat."

Happy Christmas

It added: “You also left your new iPhone on the table. You win some, you lose some! Anyway, your phone is waiting for you here whenever you want to pick it up, as is your bill!

“We take card, cash or hard labour if you can’t afford the full amount! Happy Christmas.”

The pub stacked up almost 600 reactions on the post along with 83 shares and more than 40 comments.

Facebook users responded to the pub’s post in support and one said: “Oh dear, somebody has got to do the walk of shame! I support you 100%, why do people think they shouldn’t have to pay!”

User responses

Another said: “Hope they leave a big tip for the staff for retrieving the phone.”

One user took the opportunity to post an amusing reply: “If they turn up to pay and collect the phone, throw a mild creamy coconut-enhanced curry over them.

“Then remind them that korma always catches up with people who pull strokes like doing a runner!”
