Avon and Somerset Police believe "disorder" at a Bristol pub is linked to an ongoing murder investigation.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to an incident at the New Found Out pub in Green Street, Totterdown, which they believe is linked to an ongoing murder investigation.

According to police, a 39-year-old man died following an assault in Leinster Avenue at just after 11.30pm on Friday (12 January).

DI Jim Taylor, from Avon and Somerset's major crime investigation team, said: “We’d like to speak to anyone who was in the New Found Out pub on Friday night who saw a disorder at about 11.20pm.

“If you saw any part of this incident, or were in the area of the pub and saw anything that could help, please call us."

DI Taylor added: “Our thoughts are very much with the victim's family and our sole focus is on fully investigating the events leading up to this tragic incident.

“A forensic post-mortem examination and formal identification procedures have not been completed so we’re not able to go into any further detail about the cause of death at this time.

“I’d like to thank the local community for the help they’ve given us so far.”
