Inside the brewhouse

The Bermondsey-based craft brewery opened its doors to the public for the first time this week. The Morning Advertiser visited the new site in south London, which has seen brewing capacity increase by 400%.Among the other investments made by the brewery are the implementation of 12 new 200hl fermentation tanks, two grain silos and an automated malt handling system.The latter allows Fourpure to crush its own grain on-site, giving greater control over production.New launch party beersThe brewery has also made significant enhancements to its customer-facing taproom, as it seeks to make the venue more comfortable.Customers can now enjoy up to 20 taps of the latest releases from the brewery on site, and the construction of a viewing gallery and mezzanine will allow Fourpure to host more extensive hospitality events at the brewery.To celebrate the launch of its new brewhosue, Fourpure has brewed six new beers, including a peach sour, a Munich-style helles and a raspberry & chocolate imperial porter.All of the beers will be available to the public at the official opening of the brewery on Saturday 10 February. There will also be brewery tours, street food, live music and talks from members of the brewery’s staff.'Just getting started'In an interview with The Morning Advertiser, co-founder Daniel Low said that he and his brother Tom Lowe were “just getting started”, but stopped short of ruling out handing over the reins of the business in the future."From our perspective, Tom and I are extremely excited to have got the brewery to this point, and we feel like we are only just getting started,” he said. “Being based in central London, having this kind of equipment and having this exposure to the market, I feel like we have done the hard work and laid the foundations, now is the time to go, have fun and see where we can take our brand.Fourpure was founded by Dan and Tom Lowe in 2013, and the brewery has developed a reputation for leading the way in technological advancement within the UK beer industry.It recently installed a full chemical and microbiological beer-testing laboratory at its site in Bermondsey, and sent all of its employees on a beer sensory training programme.
