BrewDog goes Native with new American DIPA
Native Son is available to purchase from today (15 February), and is the brainchild of the brewery’s head of production Jason Pond. The beer is brewed in the style of American IPAs from the west coast, with high levels of bitterness and a powerful hop profile.
The beer is brewed with Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic hops and has 70 IBUs (international bitterness units). The brewery describes it as having “massive aromas of citrus peel, pine dust, juicy fruit and pungent bitter resin”.
Intense hop character
Speaking about the beer, Pond said: “This is the beer I want to drink. It’s everything I love about West Coast double IPAs, all the intense, heavy hop character and super high attenuation so it’s really dry, which leads it to belie it’s strength.
“Native Son is going right into our regular line-up, creating a stronger, more bitter beer that aligns with what people are seeking out. Also I really just love this beer style and wanted to make the perfect DIPA. So we did!”
Native Son joins Elvis Juice, Jack Hammer and Cocoa Psycho in the Amplified range of BrewDog beers. These brews will be available regularly throughout 2018, although not permanently, unlike its core range.
Airport and railway bars
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Brewdog has signed an exclusive partnership with hospitality business TRG Concessions to open bars in UK airports and railway stations.
TRG, which currently operates a number of pubs and bars in UK airports, will be looking to open a number of locations across the country.
The bars will have the familiar look and feel of BrewDog craft beer bars, including a range of BrewDog–brewed beers and rotating guest beers from around the world, alongside an all-day food offer.
