There are less than 24 hours to go to get your entries in for the John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards 2018. And this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

With a new LGBTQ+ category as well as best pub garden, wine pub, cider pub and managed premises categories, it’s still all to play for.

It’s easy to enter and there are 19 categories to choose from to secure your chance to pick up one of these prestigious awards.

Previous winners have reported an uplift in trade and an increase in staff morale, while the awards process itself offers an opportunity to think about what you’ve achieved in the past year and identify any areas for improvement.

What it's like to win

In 2017, the overall winner was the Eagle & Child, Ramsbottom, Lancashire, after the pub collected the top prize in the partnership pub category.

Licensee Glen Duckett told The Morning Advertiser one of the most important things about winning for him was the way it boosted staff morale. “It gets all of the staff feeling really good, which is dead important. It’s also really good national exposure, which in turn boosts footfall.”

With the awards heading into its 18th year, we are looking forward to celebrating the great British icon that is the great British pub.

For those that make it to the finals, there’s the opportunity to get your glad rags on to attend the glittering awards event and celebrate and network with the cream of the pub crop. As anyone who has been before will tell you, people from the pub sector know how to party.

So if you’d like the chance to join the ranks of our outstanding winners from previous years, don’t delay and get your entry in asap.
