The Welsh craft beer brewer has taken its first steps into the gin world with the launch of three new gins, created to complement its existing beer range.

Cwtch, Clwb and Dutty have been created to tap into the “gin craze” as well as to capitalise on the company’s love of gin.

“We love gin. It’s often our nightcap after a long day at a beer festival, or something a bit different during after-work beers on a Friday,” said the brewer in a statement.

‘The modern gin craze’

“And the modern gin craze is pretty similar to the recent rise of brewing. In our eyes, beer and gin are perfect partners.”

Yet, this is technically not the brewer’s first step into the gin world, which was heralded by the launch of its Gin & Juice pale ale, a beer packed with gin botanicals including juniper, citrus peel and spices.

“However, being the lovers of variety that we are, we couldn’t settle on one idea of what makes a gin ‘good’,” said Tiny Rebel.

“Just like with beer, there isn’t one magic formula for a ‘good’ beer, with everything else being rubbish. It totally depends on mood, tastes, and in the case of gin, what mixer you’d like with it.”

Tiny Rebel distillery

Tiny Rebel, however, does not have a distillery of its own and is making the gins with the Dà Mhìle Distillery (pronounced da vee-lay) in Wales.

Clwb

“We’ve worked closely with Dà Mhìle Distillery over the past nine months, with frequent trips to their beautiful distillery (and dairy!) in the Welsh valleys,” said the brewer.

“We’ve hand-labelled bottles, built shipping boxes, and talked beer over cheese toasties, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created.”

The three gins are:

Cwtch:

Based on the brewer’s “most-famous” beer, the gin is described as refreshing and citrusy, which are the two main qualities workers at the brewery look for in a gin.

“Heaps of citrus peel delivers that signature note, and it’s smooth and cool just like a good gin should be,” the description reads.

“It’s one to make you super cosy and chilled for the rest of the day, so give yourself a Cwtch.”

Dutty

Clwb:

Masses of tropical fruit flavours are combined in this gin, which those familiar with its beery brother, will undoubtedly appreciate.

Dutty:

“We couldn’t possibly make a gin without trying one with loads of hops in it,” said Tiny rebel. “Dutty is our hoppy session IPA with mega fresh flavors - perfect for getting the gin treatment.

“The hops provide masses of zesty lemon flavour, a hint of bitterness, and an incredible light green hue. It’s zingly, lemony, perfect with tonic, and abso-freaking-lutely delicious.”
