The Inn Collection Group (ICG) has completed structural building work of the £4m Amble Inn in Coquet Enterprise Park in Amble, Northumberland.

A topping out ceremony was held at the new site to mark the placement of the last beam on the structure.

The new 30-bedroom inn, built by Northumberland County Council’s development company Arch and its successor company Advance Northumberland, is expected to create 35 full-time jobs once the interior fit out and building work is finished later this year.

The inn, to be operated by ICG, will include a 150-cover restaurant and bar with further seating on an external terrace.

ICG managing director Sean Donkin said: “We are excited to have reached this important milestone in the building of the Amble Inn and look forward to the completion of this landmark property.

“Our focus will now be placed on the building’s interior design and build. We will be creating something rather special which, once finished, will be a hugely popular dining and bar area supported with an excellent accommodation offering.

“The Amble Inn will be a key driver in supporting Amble’s regional economy with strong job creation and inter trading opportunities as well as providing those who live, work and are visiting Amble with an outstanding new environment to eat, drink and sleep in.”

Arch was awarded a £448,500 grant from the Rural Growth Network’s Strategic Economic Infrastructure Fund, part of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) £6m capital programme that aims to support rural businesses and stimulate business growth within the rural areas of Northumberland, Durham and Gateshead.

Arch chairman Richard Wearmouth added: "This key development will bring quality, new accommodation that would undoubtedly mean more visitors and therefore more business for Amble. The inn will not only enhance Coquet Enterprise Park as part of our long-term plans for the area but it will also bring much needed jobs to Amble. It is developments like this that increase the potential for attracting inward investment to benefit Northumberland as a whole.”

NELEP business growth director Colin Bell said: “This is a significant investment in Amble and the surrounding area. The inn will contribute to the town’s leisure and commercial capability by increasing the area’s accommodation offer and helping to attract valuable additional overnight visitors.”
