Stonegate invests £205,000 in London pub garden

The garden at the Minories in Tower Hill, Tower Hamlets, which is built into the arches beneath the Fenchurch Street viaduct, has been increased to double its previous size at a cost of £205,000.

The space has been expanded to be able to seat more than 200 people.

An expansion was made possible when the pub’s parent company purchased land from Transport for London and extended an existing beer garden.

Fish and chips

Customers can now buy drinks at an outdoor bar or even fish and chips from a food counter.

The space features four private booths where customers can watch TV and charge their phones.

A pergola ​ with the capacity to seat 30 people and a butterfly awning have been added for extra undercover seating.

Now fully heated, the garden also contains nine television screens for showing sports.

The pub’s interior has also been refurbished, including a new front and back bar, and extra furniture​.

Cosy year round

Pub manager Naveen Vangala said: “The new improved garden means that we have one of the best outdoor spaces in the city.

"All the covered areas – private booths, pergola and awning – have heating, making them cosy year round.

“The outdoor bar will carry the full range of drinks and customers are going to love having their own fish and chip shop in the garden!"

The garden ​ opened to the public this week on Wednesday 8 August.
