The Albert Arms in Esher, Surrey, has reopened following substantial renovations.

The pub opened its doors today (14 August) after an extensive refurbishment from Fuller's, who bought the site two years ago through agent Fleurets.

Three upstairs dining rooms are included in changes made to the interior of the pub.

Refurbishments have paid tribute to the nearby Sandown Park racecourse, with six bedrooms in a separate cottage named after famous race horses such as Arkle and Desert Orchid.

New menu

A new menu, created by head chef Ojas Naware, has been designed to provide customers with a flexible dining experience.

Meals include London porter smoked salmon, roasted Jerusalem artichoke risotto, salt beef and heritage tomato salad.

Customisation is key to the new menu, with dishes available as starters and mains in addition to the option to customise meat and fish meals with a choice of sides.

General manager Dan Arrow said: “The Albert Arms is a great pub in a superb location, just a 10-minute walk from Sandown Park.

“My team and I aim to offer a warm and welcoming environment whether you are popping in for a quick pint, coming for a romantic dinner, or looking to hold a family celebration.

Stream of racegoers

“With the six bedrooms too, I hope that we will soon build up a regular stream of racegoers who will keep coming back for more of the Albert Arms experience.

He added: “Fuller’s pubs are famous for offering fantastic food, a great portfolio of premium drinks and exceptional customer service in a beautiful environment and the Albert Arms will be no exception.

"I’m so proud of the pub – I just can’t wait to welcome neighbours, locals and visitors to the area. I intend to put it on the map as the best pub in Esher and I know I’ve got the decor, the head chef and the team to do just that.”
