The inaugural winner of the LGBTQ+ category at the 2018 John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards is to reopen after a £250,000 investment.

The Two Brewers in Clapham, south London – managed by Stonegate Pub Company, which currently operates 724 sites across branded and traditional divisions – underwent a long-awaited revamp and will reopen on 20 October with updated décor, new booth seating and a new bar area.

The reopening of the award-winning site will be marked by an opening weekend featuring two DJs and award-winning cabaret artist Danny Beard, who previously appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.

The relaunch celebrations continue with a Halloween Ball in support of LGBTQ+ friendly football club Titans FC.

Regular events will include karaoke every Tuesday, quiz nights on Wednesdays and renowned cabaret acts every night of the week from 11.30pm.

Jimmy Smith, the general manager at the Two Brewers, said: “We’re thrilled to unveil the new and improved Two Brewers to our loyal community and new customers alike, with a week of Halloween-themed festivities.

“The Two Brewers prides itself on being a vital LGBTQ+ cultural and social space that creates a safe environment for everyone and we’re excited for you all to see the fresh and fabulous new look.”
