Cristiano Ronaldo spent an eye-watering £27,000 on two bottles of exclusive red wine – in just 15 minutes.

The Portuguese international and Juventus forward popped into celebrity hotspot Scott’s in Mayfair, London, and blew the extortionate sum on two bottles of exclusive French wines.

Worlds best

The ‘world’s best footballer’ kicked off with the world’s most expensive wine – an £18,000 bottle of Richebourg Grand Cru.

The world-famous vintage, from France’s Burgundy region, is so rare that it is not on the menu or offered to regular well-heeled guests.

Richebourg Grand Cru creator Henri Jayer, a winemaker widely considered a visionary in the business, believed in small-scale production, churning out only 3,500 bottles per year, thus making it the rarest wine in the world.

With one bottle of fine wine down, next up for the soccer ace was a chic Bordeaux-made 13% 1982 Pomerol Petrus, which set the star back a cool £9,000.

Unfazed

Stunned onlookers revealed that Cristiano was so unperturbed about splashing out such mammoth sums that he failed to finish the second bottle.

“Ronaldo was in a great mood and wanted to celebrate,” a guest at the restaurant said.

“They had about a glass and a half of wine each before rushing off to watch some tennis – they didn’t even finish the second bottle.

“The bill was £27,000 – it was just small change to Ronaldo – he didn’t even blink an eye.

“It was the talk of the restaurant all night.”

Hangover

Last month, world-beater Ronaldo finished second to Luka Modric for FIFA's best player award.

Since then, the star has been indulging in some of the finest food and wine that London has to offer after being dropped from Portugal’s international squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures this week.

The star continues to fight an allegation of rape – a claim that he denies.
