Property roundup: which sites have changed hands in the past week?

Pub operator and brewer St Austell has acquired its first venue in Dorset, while Brewhouse & Kitchen and Robinson’s Brewery both acquired new sites.

Brewhouse & Kitchen acquires Beechwood Hall

Brewhouse & Kitchen has acquired Beechwood Hall in Worthing, West Sussex taking its total number of venues to 23.

Having opened another West Sussex site in Horsham in September, Brewhouse & Kitchen will comprehensively refurbish Beechwood Hall, which was built in 1829, before it begins trading.

Nick Earee of Fleurets who brokered the transaction commented: “Beechwood Hall, situated on Wykeham Road in Worthing previously traded as a hotel, restaurant and bar; offering eight en-suite letting bedrooms as well as a bar/restaurant with 80 covers and a breakfast/meeting room.”

St Austell Brewery makes first pub purchase in Dorset

Pub operator and brewer St Austell has announced the acquisition of the Rock Point Inn in Lyme Regis – the company’s first site in Dorset.

As part of the deal, the Rock Point and Cobb Fish Bar complex will become part of St Austell Brewery’s estate of west country pubs, inns and hotels having been under the same owners since 1984.

Following the deal’s completion, St Austell Brewery’s property director Adam Luck commented: “We’re grateful to Gail Caddy, the previous owner of the Rock Point, for helping make the transfer of ownership such a smooth one and we wish her every success with her next ventures.”

The Rock Point Inn will remain closed to allow for a complete restoration and refurbishment project to give the historic building, part of which is Grade II listed, a new lease of life.

The Seacroft in Anglesey sold to Robinson’s Brewery

The Seacroft in Trearddur Bay in Anglesey, North Wales, has been sold to independent family brewer Frederic Robinson Ltd.

Tim Martin of Fleurets’ north-west office, who brokered the transaction of the previously privately owned venue, commented: “The Seacroft is an attractive pub in a popular seaside tourist location, yet it is also close to the busy port of Holyhead and as such has strong trade throughout the year.

“The deal demonstrates the continued demand for quality trading opportunities in North Wales.”
