A pub has rustled up what it claims is the ‘world’s biggest’ Christmas dinner – a 16,500-calorie feast featuring a ‘turkey heavier than a baby’.

Chefs at the George Pub & Grill in Stockton-on-Tess, County Durham, cooked the mammoth traditional festive feast to "beat them all".

The roast dinner contains an 8,000-calorie turkey crown weighing 5.4kg and is served alongside an array of vegetables and 20 festive-favourite pigs in blankets.

The gut-busting mega meal is served to one person, but is actually enough food to feed a family of six.

Bigger the better

The £90 feed is the creation of the pub's owner, Craig Harker, who says anyone that manages to finish the meal within opening hours will get it for free.

Harker who says "the bigger, with more calories and fat, the better" came under fire in the past for offering free food to customers who weighed more than 25 stone.

"It's not exactly your everyday meal," Harker joked.

"This is the biggest Christmas dinner the world has ever seen.

“It’s part of the fun – people love the challenge of it and people come to us from all over the country.”

Proof of bravery

To prepare the feast, Harker pays for an extra chef to come in who is tasked with cutting, chopping and preparing 31lb of food from scratch.

The turkey takes four hours to cook and a chef must spend up to five hours preparing, seasoning and tasting each component.

Anyone brave enough to take on the challenge will walk away – not only with a gut full of food – but with a certificate as proof of their bravery even if they don’t manage to finish the meal.

If food is inevitably left over, diners can box up what’s left and take it home for another day.

In 2015, the pub smashed the world record for the biggest Christmas dinner ever with a 9kg feast, and has beaten its own record by 5kg with this year's plating.

The meal will be on the pub's menu for an exclusive time until 31 December.
