For centuries, diners have been advised on which wine best complements a dish, whether it’s a sweet white with soft cheese or a bold red with red meat.
In an attempt to prove that beer has a place alongside food, craft beer aficionados Beer52, have teamed up with 13 of London’s “very best” restaurants to launch an exclusive series of one-off beers – inspired by each venue's cuisine.
Founded five years ago by Fraser Doherty and James Brown, the pair bonded over a mutual appreciation for all things craft beer.
Doherty said their new collection will showcase London’s diverse food scene and will make the debut of ‘Table’, a new brewing project exploring the relationship between beer and food.
“Beer and food have always gone together – it’s a pairing as old as time,” said Doherty.
“We’re delving deeper into the connection between the two, exploring new flavours inspired by a host of incredible restaurants.”
Doherty explained that the collection of beers will pair with not only the restaurants' varied styles, but the people behind the menus, and has incorporated some of the core flavours and ingredients from the cuisines that have inspired them.
“We’re used to travelling around the world to source beers, so its been amazing to discover just how much there is to discover within London alone,” he added.
