The New Word Trading Company (NWTC) is fifth on the 2019 The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For, improving on two places from last year.

NWTC has improved on its place in the Best 100 Mid Companies list from 2018, where it was seventh.

The pub group tweeted, sharing its excitement at being placed in the top 10 for the third year running.

Other pub companies featured in the list included Oakman Inns, which was number 25, Peach Pub Company at 48, and the Alchemist at 95.

Bright stars

Judges said: “[NWTC] places great emphasis on internal progression that encourages senior managers to look for bright stars, during recruitment and thereafter, where regular informal talks and formal appraisals lead to the development of personal training plans.

“It progresses the hardest-working, talented and committed members of the team, and takes them to the top, regardless of previous experience. In addition, it delivers industry-recognised training programs for each member of staff.”

Some 88% of NWTC staff said their job was good for their own personal growth, 97% said their team was fun to work with, and 79% of they were happy with the pay and benefits they received in their job.

Meanwhile, the Alchemist was included in the list for the third consecutive year.

Catering service solutions provider Connect Catering took the top spot on the list.
