Mixed martial arts champion Conor McGregor has revealed he is launching his own brand of rosé – after his April Fool’s Day joke was taken seriously by thousands of people.

The UFC star, who has already dominated the liquor market with his successful whiskey brand Proper No. Twelve, pranked fans earlier this month, when he shared a fake commercial for a new drink named Champ Champ Rosé.

The product was aptly named after McGregor’s achievements in the octagon, becoming a double champion, owning the UFC featherweight title and lightweight titles back in 2016.

During a promotional video posted on his Instagram account to a substantial following of 30m, the ‘Notorious’ addressed viewers holding a bottle of the rosé.

McGregor can be seen boastfully holding a glass of the pink tipple in a tropical resort before picking up a bunch of red grapes and sitting in the back seat of a car clutching his wine.

“Crafted with the finest Irish grape varietals,” McGregor says in the clip.

“Champ Champ Rosé is my gift to you – because if one is to rosé all day – one should rosé the Champ Champ way.”

McGregor's promotional video was met with fans flocking in their thousands to find out more.

One commented: “Please make this – if it's anything like your whiskey then you're on to a winner.”

Another jumped the gun and questioned: “How much does it cost?”

Although he later admitted in the video that it was just an April Fool’s joke, he recently told fans the reaction was so good, he is now working on bringing out the beverage for real.

The Instagram page set up for the brand also sent out a teaser for its dedicated following of 30,000 followers – gained in less than a month – proving there was some serious interest in the wine.

McGregor teased on its Instagram page: "Yes, it was an April Fool's but you never know – do you want some?"

The rosé brand's popularity comes as no surprise, too, as McGregor's Proper No. Twelve's Instagram has racked up nearly 600,000 followers since its fruition – becoming the most followed spirit brand in the world on the social media platform.
