New blood: Aaron McClure has been appointed as the new head brewer at Sharp’s Brewery
Cornwall-based Sharp’s Brewery has announced it has a new head brewer at the helm.

Aaron McClure, who has worked at the Cornish brewery for eight years, is being promoted from his previous role as technical brewer.

In his new role, McClure replaces Andrew Madden, who takes on a new position as supply chain operations manager where he will be responsible for ensuring beer reaches Sharp’s customers in the “best possible condition”.

Last month, in an exclusive interview with The Morning Advertiser, Madden told us what is required of a head brewer and reiterated the importance of the role.

In his new role, he will be managing the brewing team and oversee production of the brewery’s core portfolio of beers – including its flagship Doom Bar.

McClure dubs the promotion as a “dream come true” and added that he cannot wait to get started.

“Having grown up down the coast in Newquay and having received my diploma in 2015, this is a dream come true,” said a delighted McClure.

“Brewing beer is my passion and it’s a pleasure to have been given the opportunity to lead such a dynamic and enthusiastic young brewing team.

Sharp’s general manager Dai Griffiths added his delight in seeing McClure secure the role.

Griffiths explained: “At Sharp’s, our commitment to developing our people to be the best they can be is one of the most important and rewarding parts of the job.

“Aaron and Andrew’s passion and genuine enthusiasm for beer is part of the magic that makes working here so special.”
