Wine brand Echo Falls has become the latest to tread the flavoured gin category path by announcing a Summer Berries Pink Gin variant.

The drink will be sold in supermarkets at the end of this month and highlights the popularity of pink gin, which has been a key driver for the spirits category in recent years.

In 2018, the value of the UK’s flavoured gin market increased by a staggering 751%, according to the Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA).

The flavour profile of the drink is described as predominated by strawberry and is a variant of the wine brand’s signature flavour.

The Accolades Wine brand launched a rosé wine and gin fusion product earlier this year, after its entrance into the spirits category with a summer berries vodka in 2017.

In time for summer

Accolade Wines marketing director David White said: “We are always looking for a way to bring new news to the drinks market and research shows that the Echo Falls consumer is eager to try out novel and exciting products.

“With the gin market growing at pace, it was a natural choice for us to develop a new product that combines the Echo Falls’ hugely popular signature flavour, summer berries, while simultaneously responding to the overwhelming popularity of gin in the UK.”

“The launch of Echo Falls Summer Berries Pink Gin comes just in time for the summer and will target loyal consumers who identify with the fun and positive nature of Echo Falls, but who also like gin. The launch will also have high appeal to those who enjoy trying new, trend-led products.”

Popular variant

The drinks brand is one of many to debut a pink gin variant this year.

Cider maker Kopparberg launched a strawberry and lime flavour premium gin earlier this month, with its head of marketing Rob Salvesen calling the product “an obvious decision”.

English wine makers Chapel Down also launched a red berry flavoured gin, which it dubbed as the first gin made from pinot noir grapes.
