CAMRA is extending its voucher system, which offers its members discounts on real ale, to more than 600 additional pubs this summer.

Pubs operated by Stonegate, SA Brain and Castle Rock Brewery will join JD Wetherspoon (JDW) in a relaunch of its scheme that will now cover more than 1,400 pubs across the country.

Members are set to receive £30 worth of vouchers, each worth 50p off a pint, from Monday 1 July.

Some 3,000 independent sites will also participate in offering discounts on real ale products to CAMRA members, under a flexible system of a discount that works for them.

CAMRA national chairman Nik Antona said the extension means the organisation will support a broader mix of pub businesses.

Driving footfall

He said: “We are very grateful these companies have approached us to help them ensure that pubgoing remains an affordable activity. By offering vouchers at pub chains and discounts throughout independent pubs, we aim to support a wider range of pubs by driving footfall."

The announcement comes shortly after CAMRA launched an initiative to encourage more Brits into their locals this summer, with its Summer of Pub campaign.

Antona explained: “Regular pub visits can be an expensive activity for many of us, and we hope that by partnering with more pubs both large and small, we can help get people out to their local throughout this Summer of Pub and beyond.”

JD Wetherspoon marketing manager Rob Davies said the chain was excited to continue the partnership.

Davies said: “Our voucher scheme has proved extremely popular with CAMRA members over the years. We look forward to working with CAMRA and offering our vouchers to its members, now and in the future.”

A full list of pubs participating in the ale discount can be found on the CAMRA website.
