Six pub groups boasting a total of 900 sites have committed to trial live sport streaming in partnership with Screach and Premier Sports.

Screach’s service will be introduced into pubs and bars operated by Rileys, All Our Bars, ETM Group, McManus and Beds & Bars – the operator behind the best for sport category winner at the 2019 Great British Pub Awards, Belushi’s London Bridge.

As reported by The Morning Advertiser (MA), commercial streaming platform Screach and Premier Sports, the owner of rights to more than 1,500 sporting events including top-flight football in both Spain and Italy, joined forces to stream live sport in pubs under what it claims are more flexible commercial terms than those offered by broadcast giants – including lower subscription costs and shorter contracts.

Through Screach’s technology, pubs will be able to showcase league fixtures featuring Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi after Premier Sports acquired La Liga and Serie A rights from ITV4 and Eleven Sports respectively. What’s more operators will be able to intersperse live coverage with bespoke advertising messages and its live social media feeds.

Streaming now a reality

Screach CEO Robert Rawlinson previously told MA that a 'fundamental revolution' in sports rights will see streaming overtake satellite in pubs.

“Screach offers pubs an integrated live streaming and venue marketing platform, delivering a range of live sports events as well as a powerful advertising tool that provides payback for their investment in TVs and sports subscriptions,” Rawlinson explained.

“Our partnership with Premier Sports has made many people realise that streaming is now a reality for pubs with an increasing number of forward-thinking operators recognising we can help them achieve their objectives.

“We’re delighted to welcome so many respected pub groups to the streaming revolution, and look forward to helping them draw in more customers and monetise their TVs – all at a competitive price point and on flexible commercial terms.”

Exploring new content pockets

“Using technology to help us create the right atmosphere in our venues has always been an important part of the Belushi’s brand,” Sophie Herbert, marketing director of Beds & Bars added.

“Just as important is our ability to maintain and deliver a diverse and engaging range of live sports for our customers.

“As the sports market continues to fragment, Screach provides us with a tool that not only supports us with our existing investments but also gives us the opportunity to explore new pockets of live content that we didn’t have access to before.”
