North London-based brewer Beavertown has added new brew ‘One Of Our Own’ – the official beer of Premier League football giants Spurs – to its line-up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Juggling a swathe of arrivals and departures has become the norm for football clubs in January, however, Tottenham Hotspur’s latest addition may not be what fans had in mind.

Making its debut on 11 January when Tottenham hosted runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool in an evening kick-off – 4.9% ABV golden IPA ‘One Of Our Own’ will be brewed and sold exclusively in the stadium.

Speaking exclusively to The Morning Advertiser in August 2019, Beavertown founder Logan Plant revealed that plans to treat visitors to Spurs’ 62,000-capacity home to new brews were being worked on “behind the scenes”.

According to Beavertown – which sold a minority stake in its business to global brewing giant Heineken in June 2018 – One Of Our Own “has its roots in the classic British IPA, rebuilt with Beavertown’s own modern hoppy DNA. Made up of purely European hops (Callista, Mandarina Bavaria and Barbe Rouge), with notes of stone fruits and rounded with hints of malt-sweetness.”

With the stadium boasting a Beavertown microbrewery capable of producing 1m pints per year, the brewer has pledged that every drop of the official Spurs IPA will be produced just metres away from the pitch providing fans with the freshest beer possible.

There’s no taste like home

One Of Our Own will join the likes of Beavertown’s Neck Oil – which saw both its on-trade value and volume increase by two-and-a-half times year on year in 2019 according to The Morning Advertiser’s latest Drinks List – on tap at the Spurs Stadium.

“Beavertown’s Neck Oil is already a half-time favourite, and we wanted to add to this by offering something new at the start of 2020,” Beavertown’s marketing director Tom Rainsford explained. “Supporting a club is in your bones and this beer feels the same. It’s familiar, yet distinct. A satisfying pint that makes you feel at home.”

“We see Spurs as the beating ‘hart’ of the Tottenham community, a central hub for football fans and residents alike. We both share values of bringing people together, creating revolutionary experiences and even world firsts like our microbrewery inside the stadium.”

The announcement of Spurs’ official beer follows the launch of The Perfect Finnish – a beery tribute to goal-machine Teemu Pukki by award-winning East Anglian brewery Woodforde’s and Norwich City Football in December.

What’s more, before the current Premier League season kicked off in August 2019, Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal announced a partnership with Budweiser Brewing Group-owned Camden Town Brewery, which saw its Camden Hells lager become the club’s official beer.
