Brewer and operator Hall & Woodhouse has revealed details of its phased reopening plans including two-metre distanced tables, bookings of no more than six people and guests booking 90-minute periods.

The pub group will begin reopening its managed sites from Tuesday 7 July after polling more than 10,000 customers.

All managed pubs will accept contactless payments and the option for guests to order and pay via their mobile phone and table service will be provide in the restaurant, bar and garden areas of the pubs.

Guests will be required to make a telephone or online booking before their visit for drinks and or meals.

Appropriate distancing

A reduced menu will be in place to help allow appropriate distancing in the kitchen and single-use menus will be on each table and disposed of.

There will be designated entrances and exits into the pubs alongside multiple hand sanitising stations throughout.

Enhanced and more frequent cleaning will also be actioned throughout the buildings during the day including toilets and frequent touch points.

Risk assessment

Hall & Woodhouse managing director Matt Kearsey said: “We have been working tirelessly to prepare for our reopening and all team members have undertaken extensive training to learn and feel confident with our adapted ways of working.

“We have also completed a risk assessment in line with the Covid-19 secure guidelines issued by the Government, to consider all aspects of our guests’ safety when choosing to visit us.

“We decided to reopen our managed pubs in a safe and controlled way for our returning team and guests to prioritise their welfare and not rush our reopening.

“We surveyed our guests twice during closure to ask which safety measures they would like to see in place when we reopen.

“We received more than 10,000 responses and this feedback helps ensure we deliver the highest levels of hospitality, without compromising on guests’ safety.

“We will be continually reviewing our safety practices to identify any improvements that can be made as things evolve. We’re excited about being able to do what we love again and we look forward to welcoming back our guests over the next few weeks.”
