Significant takeover: Work has begun on Boxpark's new site in Camden
Food and retail park firm Boxpark has confirmed its new site in Camden, London will open later this month.

The firm, which was founded in 2011, said refurbishments at the Buck Street Market venue had begun and would be completed in late September ahead of welcoming guests.

Open seven days a week, Boxpark Camden will operator across three-floors, including 60 independent food and retail traders alongside two bars and a rooftop terrace (subject to planning permission).

With support rom Place for London, Transport for London’s property company, the investment into Boxpark Camden will also see an improvement of the overall site facilities, alongside the installation of new paintwork, flooring, and signage.

Inclusive space

In addition, in line with the spirit of the area, Boxpark Camden will feature a tailor-made events program, including weekly quizzes, comedy nights, live music and resident DJ sets.

Retail for Places London head of retail Samantha Bain-Mollison said: “It’s exciting to see Boxpark’s plans for Buck Street Market moving forward to revitalise the space for all.

“We will be working closely with them as they work to improve the market and provide a welcoming and inclusive space in the heart of Camden that locals and visitors can enjoy all year round.”

It follows the brand’s latest opening in Liverpool, taking its total number of sites to four and marking its first outside of London, located in Cains Brewery Village.

Culture and community

This month the group also announced an NTIA campaign which has seen more than 10,000 sign-ups so far to support an extension of the lease on its flagship Shoreditch venue.

Regarding the new site, Boxpark chief operating officer Ben McLaughlin said: “This has been such an exciting and rewarding challenge for Boxpark so far, and one we cannot wait to see the results of.

“It’s no secret we have a love of locations beaming with culture and community, and Camden is no different.

“The iconic town has been a fan-favourite for years, boasting a world of food, music and the arts that is clearly aligned with us.

“We are committed to flying the flag for independent businesses across the country, and this restoration will allow us to continue this in one of the most significant takeovers London will see this year.”
