The Negroni is a simple cocktail to make because it consists of just three ingredients used in equal measures and doesn’t require shaking or even stirring (although there is some debate about that).

Where the drink came from is mostly unknown, however, one well-known rumour is the drink was first created in Florence, Italy, in 1919. Legend goes that Count Camillo Negroni asked a bartender in his favourite haunt to strengthen his preferred Americano cocktail by adding gin instead of normal soda water.

The barman did so and added a slice of orange instead of lemon and so the Negroni, according to myth, was created. Many bartenders have added their own twists to the simple recipe, including rum, vodka or whisky-based concoctions. However, the classic stands as the most popular.

The Big Breezy

In 1874, founder and legendary southerner M.W. Heron created the first batch of his genuine smooth-drinking whiskey, blended with his very own fruits and spices. This original recipe is fitting for a whiskey that is still deeply rooted in the local flavour and vibrant soul of one of the most unforgettable places in the world – New Orleans.

With this sophisticated drink we want to reposition the traditional G&T with the Gin & Elderflower; a floral twist on this classic.

The lime cuts through the sweetness of the elderflower for a perfectly balanced botanical drink and the raspberries add a colourful garnish.

Belvoir Gin Fizz

For more than 30 years, Belvoir Fruit Farms has been pressing, blending and infusing real fruit juices with freshly picked flowers and aromatic spices, perfecting its range of mouth-watering cordials and lightly sparkling pressés. When Belvoir started in 1984, it was the only company making elderflower cordial and pressé commercially. Since then, the range has grown but it still makes its elderflower to the original family recipe – and it is still the biggest seller.

Beautifully botanical, gin is one of the oldest spirits around – and still one of the most popular.

Upgrade the classic G&T to a Sweet & Sour, to allow the contrasting sweet honey and bitter lemon balance with Belvoir’s own home-made Raspberry Lemonade and the aromatic hit of gin.

First served by Gaspare in Italy in the 1860s. It may have been named the Americano as a result of its popularity among visiting Americans.

How to make an Americano cocktail

Americano – Schweppes

1783. The year it all began. Jacob Schweppe, watchmaker and inventor, created the first process to capture and bottle bubbles on a commercial level. The world’s first carbonated soft drink! Just 10 short years later, the first London factory opened in Drury Lane, and so a very British love affair was born. Schweppes Indian Tonic Water was later introduced in Great Britain. The start of something beautiful – the partner gin had been waiting for.

Sloe gin is in. This cocktail has a harvest festival flavour with its fruity, plummy ingredients. The tonic works well with the gin by cutting through it, followed by a hint of lemon and mint.

It is an easy make because it has just a handful of ingredients, meaning you can spend more time serving your customers than shaking or stirring drinks.

Not to mention the royal household with the royal warrant taking pride of place on the front of the bottle. Relaunched in 2016 with a fresh new look and a commitment to continue support local communities.
