A citrus-flavoured Brazilian cachaça is ready to hit UK pubs and bars.

Salto, which is named after the key cachaça-producing region of Brazil, has a lower alcoholic strength than that of other cachaça brands, at 24% ABV.

The sugarcane spirit is imported into England in its original form and then infused with a blend of bitter orange, grapefruit and lime to create Salto, which is described as having a "refreshing bite and taste" due to its fruity citrus flavours.

"Salto's uniquely refreshing flavours and mid-proof strength will appeal to a new range of consumers," said creators Mike Spurling and Steve Drawbell.

The duo said they had noted the popularity of the caipirinha (a Brazilian cocktail of cachaça, sugar & lime) in bars across the UK, which led to the creation of Salto.
