John Smith's has reinforced its sponsorship of horse racing's biggest race with the launch of a new limited- edition ale.

Winner's Tipple, which was unveiled at the 2008 John Smith's Grand National Weights Lunch earlier this month, will be available from March in selected on and off-trade outlets in draught cask-conditioned and 500ml bottle formats.

John Smith's marketing manager Graeme McKenzie said: "We believe Winners Tipple will appeal to regular cask-ale drinkers and millions of consumers of 'smooth' bitters who overlook cask ale in favour of big name nitro-keg bitter brands, with which they are more familiar."

John Smith's has also announced details of a "No Nonsense" race night promotion, designed to help licensees recreate the excitement of the races in their own pubs while raising money for charity.

Pub-goers can enjoy a flutter on filmed races and win cash prizes. A donation from the race nights will be made to a good cause nominated by outlets participating in the promotion.
